Queen, Interrupted: The Rise and Fall of a Drag Pariah

Exquisite Corpse Cabaret

Celebrated drag queen Yoko Oso rose from being a grungy club kid to a glamorous dame. As the shadow of her past looms over her public persona, she endures the slings and arrows of stardom. A one-person cabaret, “Queen, Interrupted” is one-part psychological drama, another part sensational revue through Yoko’s extensive musical career. “Queen, Interrupted” asks: How do you handle not only outward bigotry but being outcast from your community? What does it mean to walk away from your dreams? What does it mean to cut off a part of yourself? Written by burlesque artist and poet L.Michele alongside JD, the show was first conceived when live performance went dark in 2020 out of a need to both document and dramatize a snapshot in both personal mythos and queer history.

Please note late seating policy: This show permits late entry, however, your seat may be forfeited to a waiting patron after 10 minutes late.
