Betty Jean Steinshouer filled Chautauqua tents and halls in 44 states and Canada, portraying dead authors from Cather to Rawlings to Stein. Now the only character left is herself. Her work has been called "tour de force theater" by the Asheville Citizen-Times. The Lincoln Journal Star declared her "a national treasure."
